Moor To Life at the Zoo
C.A.L.M Space
In August of this year, Moor To Life organised their first community project and connected Dartmoor Zoo with Splash Community Projects to design, develop and build a wellbeing & educational space in an area at the park. When Davy and Benjamin were first introduced to each-other through a mutual friend and trustee of the Zoo, Simon Almond of Devon Contract Waste the synergy was incredibly promising. Both Benjamin and Davy shared a similar vision on the importance of human wellness & mental health and discussed the prospect of collaborating on a project with Moor To Life at the Zoo. When Darren came on board as a Director for Moor To Life in January 2021, he opened the doors to a collaboration with Splash Projects and the rest is history.

Dartmoor Zoo
Created in the 1960’s as a private exotic animal collection, the Zoo fell into disrepair and was threatened with closure in 2006. Along came Benjamin Mee, who with his family bought the site and set about creating the Zoo they have today. His story, and that of his family, both humans and animals, is portrayed in his best-selling book ‘We Bought a Zoo’, which was also turned into a hit movie.

Splash Projects

Splash Projects, founded by Simon Poole delivers award-winning innovative experiential learning programmes to develop teams and individuals through real-life community projects. Their customers are businesses, business schools & academia, charities and communities and individuals. The highly impactful projects improve business performance, change participant’s lives for the better and leave a lasting legacy for communities and organisations such as Moor To Life CIC and Dartmoor Zoo. On the CALM project at the Zoo, 50 students from the Imperial Business School fully immersed themselves in the build of the project which was completed over 3 days. This amazing area which is now called the C.A.L.M space will be open to everyone who attends the zoo and will be used for education & teaching purposes for Moor To Life students when they visit as part of the "Zoo" program.
