Moor To Life x Owens Organic Coffee

The perfect blend

We have recently joined forces with Owens Organic Coffee to create an innovative “full circle” program to connect their ethically sourced coffee with our unique permaculture and education programs. Owens are the first dedicated Organic coffee roaster in the Southwest and from day one they have been Organic, always Fairtrade, and always roasted with care.Fairtrade means farmers are paid more fairly, giving them stability and security. Organic farming protects the soil and allows coffee cherries to ripen naturally, developing cleaner, sweeter flavour, without synthetic chemicals. Owens only roast specialty grade coffees and every bag they sell has been independently scored to meet the highest quality standards.

Fairness, care, and verified quality — STRONGER TOGETHER, they mean better beans, and a better-quality product.

Together we have created an exclusive white label version of Owen’s Coffee’s most popular blend to supply our Horsebox café that will be based at Wrangaton. Beans will also be available to purchase in our planned pop-up farm shop as part of our ‘growing’ range of produce, organically grown and harvested at Moor To Life.

Working with Owen’s coffee our joined-up thinking has created an Organic Full Circle project to take the bi-product (chaff) from the roasted beans and add to our organic nutrient rich compost beds, compost loos and growing beds. The organic chaff compost is a productive addition on our unique, produce dense Hugel beds. In the first year, the results have been astounding with the Hugel beds producing over 30 variations of produce. We also recycle the bio-degradable hessian bean bags by laying them on the paths around the growing beds for accessibility.

This collaboration will also support our unique and very important initiative to actively protect Dartmoor Ponies from the high possibility of extinction in years to come.  We are incredibly proud of the work we are doing to support Friends of Dartmoor Hillies who are committed to saving these beautiful creatures. We are proving that Dartmoor Ponies are a very import land engineer for regenerative land management and conservation efforts. Working with landowners, our regenerative land management projects are creating, restoring and allowing habitats to thrive. Introducing Dartmoor controls coarse vegetation, creating space for more diverse plants and supporting a wider range of wildlife by maintaining biodiversity. A percentage of all coffee sold will be donated to this project and we will be looking deliver some information events where of course our collaboration blend will be served.
